•Kanato gets his powers when he’s still in fucking diapers. Sometimes the maids would come in the triplets room and the fire place would be lit, other times candles are blown out. No one’s been in or out the room and Cordelia is probably to busy being a hoe to have done it, so no one can understand what the fuck is going on. Kanato of course, can’t either, because he’s still an infant at the time and his powers are extremely limited.
• He thinks, ‘oh it’s cold I wanna be warm,’ BAM warmer room or something like wanting warm milk and heating it with his wittle hands. The entire point is, he’s doing all of this subconsciously or unconsciously, and fucking with staff of the Sakamaki household in 2938747483838 different ways.
• As he gets older this eventually occurs less and less often, to the point where it’s hardly even noticed.
• Kanato gets older right, well the staff start to notice him acting real fucking weird. Staring into space, talking to no one, being anxious upon entering certain rooms in the house– the whole shbang
• I said I was gonna discuss all the powers Kanato has, and I aaaaam cause I believe he can communicate with the other side. Demons (not like Cordelia and her family lol no real, terrifying ancient fucking demons), ghosts, the whole ordeal but everyone just thinks he’s got a few screws loose.
• These demons and spirits begin to TORMENT Kanato, as well as taking constant neglect, torture, and abuse from Cordelia. Giving his night terrors or preventing him from sleeping.
• He grows into a taller smol bean and BOOM we have physically a small child, who’s first being handed teddy
• to add on to this, I believe Cordelia’s previous lover probably bonded the sex demon inside the bear to impress her, but once he realized he bonded the spell to well, the demon became so entrapped it couldn’t get out
• thus this demon bear has nothing to do but sit for hundreds and hundreds of years… or talk to the small child it was given to.
• demon chooses the latter, and gets renamed “Teddy,” by Kanato. Teddy the sex demon (I kind of expect this of demons, since vampires can tell whose a pureblood or not, why can’t demons tell who’s powerful or not) senses Kanato has some kind of ability, as he can hear him
• starts Kanato off slow by having him burn firewood and shit like that, escalates to small animals REAL quick, from wild mice to the cat of a village girl
• encourages Kanato to bring out his power on humans, but hesitated until Cordelia kills that one maid (I can’t remember when or where I saw this, but if you remember COMMENT BELOW)
• begins murdering maids by burning them to death just to get Cordelia’s attention, course this doesn’t work
• now cue this cunts death, Ayato and Laito discover Kanato has left the matches he needed to burn Cordelia’s body and still set her ass on fire WITH NOTHIN
• course they suspect some shit is up, corner him until he finally says somethin
• once they find out, turns out some familiars were listening and guess who find out? The award for the shitty father of the year goes to this motherfucker right here!! Their father finds out about Cordelia’s death and Kanatos power.
• to prevent something from fucking up whatever evil scheme he has he prolly threatens the triplets and gives them punishments so they won’t tell anyone bout Kanato
• COURSE THEIR BROTHERS FIND OUT ANYWAY.
• Reiji already fuckin knew. Since Kanato was coming out the womb he knew
• Subaru caught off fuckin guard
• Shu is devasted and now VERY AFRAID OF his smol angry sibling
•tbh forgot to add on earlier but Kanato prolly is able to seal demons too. I mean sure you can seal away a demon but it’ll eventually break out. Have you not seen movies? Which means Kanato most likely stuffed the demon back in his furry prison
●Kay now that I’m done with that lets move on to the fun part, extent of control
°Kanato can only use his powers when he’s calm or focused, which is why he never uses them usually because ANGRY PURPLE SCREAM CHILD
°The panic he felt also stopped him from saving Teddy, he was too afraid/shook to focus. Since Kanato can hear from the other side, this meant he probably heard Teddy scream as he was burned alive.
°He can also only use his powers at a certain range. Probably about ten feet on a usual, twenty if he strains
°drains the hell out of him. He gets very tired and hungry after this

Imagine Shu being horrified by this, and avoiding his little brother as much as possible. Practically running every time he sees him, or maybe developing a hatred toward him because… what if he killed his best friend? I feel as if Shu, despite his unwillingness to do much, would fall into a rage and take vengeance against Kanato if if truly believed he caused Edgar’s death.

I feel like Reiji would begin to bribe Kanato with sweets or something he may take interest in, so while he’s distracted Reiji could either take the chance to exam him from a distance, yet I could also see him using this as a method to trap Kanato so he could dissect. (I say this because while Reiji is a complicated character, he didn’t really have any qualms about setting fire to AN ENTIRE VILLAGE as a child, and even went as far as to later on organize the death of his own mother. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was willingly to kill his half brother for research. Not saying he didn’t regret his decisions, but he had no hesitation in them, either.)

Ayato can’t help but feel jealous. He was supposed to be the best, yet here is his little brother, controlling familiars, compelling, and BEING ABLE TO START FIRES WITH HIS MIND. He’d most likely resent Kanato for it, or use his power to his own advantage.

Laito… would be the same as Ayato, except instead of resent toward Kanato, he’d now be more interested in his little brother. He’d also take the time to ponder if one of them had powers like that, would the others? They’re triplets, after all. It could be possible. Manipulation would start to come into play too, as it’s been seen for Laito to be… well, Laito. Also, if Kanato discovered his powers as early as I think he did, Laito would probably start planning Cordelia’s death with Ayato A LOT sooner. Laito’s jealous would decrease his faith in good even more, proving that life was NEVER fair.

Subaru would avoid Kanato even more than he already does. While he probably views him as an annoyance, childish, and bossy, I don’t think he’d be willing to risk his life in order to tell him off. Avoidance would be his best route, although on certain occasions he’d still actively be nice to Kanato. Only to ensure he doesn’t murder him in his sleep.

I’ll post some headcanons about when Kanato discovered he had such abilities, the extent of control he has, and how much he uses them in another post. (This is on mobile, so once I get my laptop fixed I’ll post a link below.) I’m down to discuss other people’s theories, let me know what you think!

If you think about it, Ayato and Reiji are alike in a lot more ways than you think. I know I sound crazy, the stick-up-his-ass if the house and the living meme? Alike? But think about this: Ayato and Reiji both have a massive obsession with praise and acknowledgement. Only while Ayato is more vocal towards it, Reiji internalized his own desire for the above. Ayato wants to be the best, in fact, most of the times he believes he WILL be the best, and the same goes for Reiji; because in his mind if he’s better than Shu (who is ya know the first born of the FUCKING KING OF VAMPIRES), he IS the best. Their mothers basically gave them the “you must be the best,” mentality. Ayato got it in the form of abuse/what’d I’d describe as torture by Cordelia, while Reiji got it in the form of neglect from his mother. These two probably also have inferiority complexs, but Ayato’s would be minor, while Reiji’s is MAJOR and part of his plot. They also both are narcissistic, but while Ayato is blunt with his narcissism, Reiji kind of pushes it down, choosing to belittle and blame the heroine rather than outright say, “I am better than you.” (I think he actually said this before, but I don’t remember when) The desire to be the best is real with both characters, and that probably plays a lot into their self esteem/feeds their ego. The same I think could also be said for potentially (just a smidge) in Ruki and Kou. Also, I could see Azusa tying his self worth to praise but meh, not so much. Yuma, Subaru, Kanato, Laito, and Shu, I don’t see this connection in. Eh, maybe I’m just tripping balls. That’s my interpretation of them though, so I could be wrong. Thoughts??? I lowkey want Laito to have a shy and HELLA awkward lesbian friend who he tries to give advice to get the ladies, but Laito being Laito all of their plans to get her a girlfriend ultimately fail disastrously or hilariously Laito would probably say something and she’d be like, “If I was a straight woman I’d run 3000 miles away from you before letting you near my vagina,” AND JUST THE RIDICULOUSNESS THAT WOULD ENSUE UGH SOMEONE WRITE THAT FOR ME AND I’LL MARRY YOU.
